Angerstein, 2100 m

|
starting point:
|
Lower Gosausee, cable car station
|
|
time:
|
7 - 9 hours
|
|
character:
|
steep, difficult, you need your
hands
|
|
|
Strichkogel is the first mountain
in the foreground and Angerstein is just behind on th right side,
but you can´t see it. I will put some better pictures later.
|
Donnerkogel is reserved for the advanced walkers. There
are some steep parts which are very rocky. You should know where to
put your feet. After rain it could be a little bit slippery. From
the cable car station it is not far upe to the top, just 2 hours,
but if you want to go down by cable car, don´t leave to late.
From the cable car we follow a wide way just a few minutes to Gablonzerhütte.
At a junction just between two huts we turn to the left an walk up
to a small path to Törlecksattel. A few minutes away starts a
via ferrata, called Intersport Klettersteig up to Donnerkogel.
A few minutes later we reach another junction at Unteren Törlecksattel,
where we turn to the left again. The other way is leading towards
Stuhlalm and Hofpürglhütte.
Donnerkogel is the northern corner pillar of Gosaukamm. The terrific
view to Dachstein and Bischofsmütze has always fascinated the
mountaineers.
If you don´t want to go down on the same way you can go on further
to Stuhlalm.
From the peak we down about 10 minutes to a junction. The path to
the left will bring us to Strichkogel. It is a little bit equipped
like a via ferrata and you should be free of giddiness. Sometimes
you are right on the ridge way above Vorderer Gosausee. 3 to 5 hours
it will take from the top of Donnerkogel back to the cable car station.
Shortly after a col we get to Steinriesenkogel. Now we are following
the ridge down and traverse along the southside of Northern Strichkogel.
We are crossing a couloir and a steep path takes us up to another
col. Now the peak of Strichkogel is just minutes away.
From Strichkogel you follow the way down to Stuhlalm from where you
walk back to the cable car station. below the western walls of Donnerkogel.
From Strichkogel we walk down ten minutes to a junction, where a small
path turns left, up to Weitscharte. Half an hour later the last peak
of the day is made. Bischofsmütze is very close and looking back
you can see the whole way from Donnerkogel via Strichkogel to Angerstein.
Going back we first have to return to Weitscharte. There we turn left
and follow the path down to Stuhlalm from where we walk back to the
cable car station. below the western walls of Donnerkogel.
The way down from Weitscharte to Scharwandhütte and Gosausee
is not recommendable without mountainguide. There is no marked way
and the "path" leads down over rocks and to move there is
very tiresome.
