region around the Dachstein is perfect for ski mountaineering. to
the top of Dachstein you have to carry your skis, it is just for professionals!!! |

classic lap around "Rumpler" begins at Krippenstein and
brings you to Schladmingerglacier. From there you ski down 2000 m,
passing Simonyhut, to either Hallstatt or Obertraun. |

Another
classic of the region is the Gamsfeld, from where you have a perfect
view to Gosaukamm and Dachstein. |

A wonderful mountain is the Kalmberg,
which is one of the smoothest around. Passing Iglmoos (photo) you
get to Goisererhut, which in winter is usually open on sunny weekends.
